Peter Leadbeater
Always
having a love for wood and the ability to make things I first studied
furniture design and craftsmanship in 1986. Since then I have spent the
last 16 years on and off developing my skill and design ideas. More
recently I completed a BA Hons degree course at Bucks College in furniture
design and craftsmanship. Whilst studying I also worked part time for a
wood sculptor.
The
sculpted furniture on display here is a combination of the practical
skills I learnt at college and the abstract balancing of form needed for
sculpture.
This
type of work is one of several styles which I have been called upon to
develop whilst creating commissions for commercial and private clients
over my career. These styles range from six metre tall sculptures from
tree trunks to modern furniture pieces. Please see my portfolio at the
reception desk if you would like to see a selection of other work I have
created.
My
work has sold as far away as New York and Bahrain, has appeared in several
national magazines and even been featured on television.
Current
projects include designing and making water features from silver and ebony
for a commercial client, a third tree sculpture commissioned by Cambridge
city council and numerous small commissions for private clients.
